Carolyn A. Bowen
August 5, 1953 - August 25, 2023

Carolyn James Bowen (70) passed away on August 25, 2023, at Methodist Charlton Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. A celebration in honor of Carolyn's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 9, in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home in Greenville, Texas. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the service time at the funeral home. A private graveside service will follow at Prairie Valley Cemetery.

The daughter of J.B. and Virginia (Harris) Dooley, Carolyn was born on August 5, 1953 in Greenville, Texas. She graduated from Lone Oak High School and worked for many years in the Dallas area before returning to Lone Oak to manage health issues and care for her aging father. She spent the last few years living with her son and his family, most recently in Glenn Heights, Texas.

Family was important to Carolyn, and she was a kind, generous and loving person. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she was an avid cat and dog lover, with the family dog Trooper being one of her biggest fans. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Cedar Hill, and was a quiet and focused woman of faith and service. Her last act on earth was to help others though organ, eye and tissue donation. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

''Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His faithful servants.'' Psalm 116:15 (NIV)

Carolyn is survived by her son, Justin James, his wife Sophia and grandchildren Jacob and Eliana James of Glenn Heights; her sister, Gayle (and husband John) Rodgers of Plano; her brother, Brandon (and wife Noreen) Dooley of Katy; her nieces, Sarah (and husband Joe) Doucette of Greenville, McKenna Dooley of San Marcos, and Shaylen Dooley of Katy; her nephew, Jackson Rodgers of Plano; her great nephews, Micah, Matthew and Jeremiah McCallum of Greenville; her great niece, Mercy Stoker of Decatur; and numerous beloved cousins and dear friends.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, and her sister and brother-in-law, Pam and Robert Hidler of Greenville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Heart Association (heart.org), or the Prairie Valley Cemetery Association (P.O. Box 9273, Greenville, Texas 75404).
