Benny "Buck" Joe McDonald, Jr.

Benny Joe ''Buck'' McDonald, Jr., 74, of Merit, passed away on January 7, 2024, at his residence. A memorial service will be 11:00 A.M., Friday, January 12, 2024, at Higher Trails Cowboy Church in Merit. Visitation will be 10:30 A.M. until service time.

Buck was born on July 15, 1949, in Dallas, Texas, to Benny Joe McDonald Sr. and Nita Marie Doan. He married Vicke Uland on November 18, 1968, in Greenville, Texas. He owned Buck's Backhoe Service for over 40 years.

He is survived by his wife, Vicke McDonald; daughters, Teresa Taylor, Melissa Nailling, and Annette McDonald; son, Chad McDonald; brothers, Jim Doan and Monty Doan; grandchildren, Zach Taylor, Dakota Taylor, Trey Hurst, Tyler Hurst, Morgan Howell, and Emma Shepherd; great-grandchildren, Eli Taylor, McKinley Taylor, Tucker Hurst, and Tripp Hurst.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Brenda Wigington, brother, Rick Doan, and grandson, Ethan Shepherd.

Coker-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
