Marva Jean Petty, 92, of Greenville, passed away on April 4, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Knox officiating. Burial will follow the service at Caddo Mills IOOF Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday.

Marva was born on June 6, 1930, in Italy, Texas, to Roy Sprinkle and Geneva Cantrell Sprinkle. Marva married James Petty on October 2, 1951 in Waxahachie, Texas. Marva was a member of New Beginnings Church formerly known as Westview Methodist Church, she was a designer for Adkisson's Florist and worked for Hunt County Opportunity Center.

Marva is survived by sons, Joe Allen Petty, Jay Lee Petty and fiancé, Jamie; grandchildren, Lynden Petty and wife, Victoria, Aaron Petty, and LaKenya Denmark; great-grandchildren, Madelyn Petty and Finnley Petty; niece, Debbie LaPenna and husband Bob; nephews, Tom Kelley and Jere Kelley; great-niece Lana Hubble and husband Joey; great-nephews, Bobby LaPenna and wife Katie, Chase LaPenna and wife Tiffany, several great-great nieces and nephews, special caregivers Kay, Felicia, and Lakeysha.

Marva is preceded in death by her husband, James Petty; her parents; sister, Roy Katherine Sprinkle Muirhead; brother, Joe Edward Sprinkle and daughter-in-law, Sharla Petty.

Pallbearers will be Lynden Petty, Aaron Petty, Steve Brand, Bobby LaPenna, Sheldon Franklin, and Bob Bihr, Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Maddux and Joey Hubble.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to New Beginnings Church or to the Hunt County MHMR.
