Serena Ann Stark Helton, 93, of Greenville, passed away on June 11, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel of Coker-Mathews Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Caddo Mills I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Serena was born January 19, 1930 in Caddo Mills, Texas to Herbert and Mary Virgin Nelson Stark. She married S. E. Helton, Jr. in Caddo Mills, Texas. She worked for Lance and after 28 years of service she retired. She spent much of her time sitting with elders, which she loved. She was a faithful member of Crossroads Assembly of God.
She is survived by her daughter, Fay Nell Helton DeGarso; daughter-in-law, Judy Helton; sister, Judith Nell Stone; grandchildren, Joe David DeGarso and wife, Shannon, Brian DeGarso, Georgeanna Mequet and husband, David, George Ray Helton, Jr. and wife, Kristi, Cheryl Foss and husband, Jud; great-grandchildren, Halie, Bethany, Jonathon, Logan, Hope, Austin, Cash, Lilly, Lauren, McKenna, Monte and Traylon.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; children, Mary Opal, Herbert Glenn, George Ray, Sr.; son-in-law, Joe DeGarso; brothers, George Thurman Stark, Billy Ray Stark; sisters, Dorothy Jean Ray and Owana Fay DeGarso.
Pallbearers will be Joe David DeGarso, Brian DeGarso, George Helton, Jr., Jonathon DeGarso, Logan DeGarso, Austin Helton, Cash Miles, Jimmy Charles Stark, Gary DeGarso and Ronnie DeGarso.

    Serena was a caregiver for my parents Barbara and Taylor Davis who are now deceased. They appreciated her care for them which allowed them to stay in their home
