Charles Bernard Ranly, 89, of Wolfe City, passed away September 10, 2023, in Greenville, Texas. Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 14, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Commerce, Texas with Father Marcus Chidozie officiating. The rosary will begin at 9:30 A.M. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Mr. Ranly was born August 5, 1934, in Robstown, Texas, to Ben Ranly and Ida Koenig. His family moved to Austin when he was 7 years old. The Austin Country Club was built in his neighborhood and that is where he met and worked for Harvey Penick. Harvey is the person that signed his PGA card. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1957. Charles helped build the Mesquite Municipal Golf Club and was the Pro when it opened and then later, he purchased Webb Hill Country Club in Wolfe City. He was the secret Santa for the WCISD for several years. He married Shirley Holey on July 13, 1957, in Dallas, Texas. They met at the Catholic Church in Dallas. Mrs. Ranly said she knew something was going on when he wanted to know what time Mass was. He had a giving heart and always made sure the children were taken care of in the Summer Webb Hill Junior Clinics. He stressed the 5 P's, Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Shirley Ranly; sister, Odelia Hutson; brother-in-law, Frank Holey; nieces and nephews, Scott Holey, Danny Hutson, Gretchen Shipman, James Lingo, Bernadett Lingo, Jennifer Sheed, Keith Holey, and Frank Holey, Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Helen Lingo and husband, John; brother-in-law, Herbie Hutson; nephews, Eric Hutson and John Holey.
Pallbearers will be Alfonzo Rodriguez, Arturo Ramirez, Fernando Ramirez, Wade Toeplitz, Thomas Harn, Daren Scholfield, Trinten Turney and Charles Hall.

Honorary pallbearers will be Allen Scott, Mel Fox and Richard Holsinger.
