John Ryan Martyn, 76, of Greenville, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Hunt Regional Medical Center. A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 1200 E. Joe Ramsey Blvd., Greenville with Pastor Chris Yost officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the church. He will be interred at a later date at D/FW National Cemetery. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John was born July 25, 1947, in Dallas, Texas, to Henry J. Martyn, Jr. and Pansy Louise McConnell Martyn. He married Cheryl Ann Beck on February 4, 2012, at Wesley United Methodist Church where they had met and were members. She was the love of his life and meant the world to him.
John attended Highland Park High School and graduated from Mexico Military Academy in Mexico, Missouri in 1966. John served his country, serving in the US Army. He graduated from Texas A&M University, College Station where he was a member of the Corp of Cadets and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology. He was a Plant Manager for various glass companies, Libby Glass, Anchor Glass, and Kerr Glass. He worked for HON company in Sulphur Springs as a Plant Engineer and worked until his retirement as a Salesman for DFW Movers and Erectors.

John was a member of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Greenville Antique Car Club from 2011 to present.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Ann; son, Aaron Martyn; step-sons, Chris Manlove and wife, Rosa, Shaun Beck and wife, Rachael; daughter, Julie Martyn; brothers, Jay Martyn and wife, Lynda, Bruce Martyn and wife, Sunny, and Mac Martyn; sister, Nancy Place and husband, Jim; grandchildren, John Jr., Madelyn, Victoria, Jack, Nevaeh, Aaliyah, Kaden, and Legend; nieces, Allison, Lauren, Katie, Haley, Alana, and Kylie; nephews, Taylor, PJ, Matt, and Daniel.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

    So sorry to hear the passing of my former co-worker and friend John Martyn. He was TOP sales here at DFW Movers for a very long time. I sure hated to hear this news. He was a great guy to know and very intelligent!! He is going to be missed by numerous!!
