Susan Mills, 75, of Greenville, passed away on December 8, 2023, in Dallas, Texas at Faith Presbyterian Hospice. There will be a private service planned for early 2024. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Susan was born on October 16, 1948, in Decatur, Alabama, to F.L. Childs and Doris L. Rister. She attended college at Saint Bernard in Cullman, AL, then went onto Texas Women's University in Denton, Tx for her Masters. She worked at UT Southwestern in medical research and learned things that saved her husband's life in 1978. She married Karl Mills on August 16, 1975, at First Baptist Church Dallas, Texas where she met him in the choir. She worked as a chemist for Desoto Paint and Jones-Blair among other companies and worked at Central Ambulance as an EMT for Hunt County. She was a former member of Church on the Rock and Higher Ground Church.

She is survived by daughter, Rebekah Crump and son-in-law Brodie Crump. Seven grandchildren Rayleigh, Brayden, Karson, Hayes, Travis, Brandon, and Morgan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, and parents, her daughter Rachel and a grandchild.

Susan loved music and science but loved children and cats even more. She gave her all to not only her friends, but even to strangers and was a phenomenal mom and Nana. She will be deeply missed, but we will see her again! She taught us how to be strong. We love you, Susie Q!

I have so many fond memories throughout childhood of spending the night and riding around in the back of the station wagon. I think the first full sentence I spoke was even, "That's
Sue and Bekah's house," as we drove past one afternoon. Susan was always so friendly, approachable and kind. She had a beautiful singing voice. As the first cat-person I knew in my life, she in part paved the way for my eventual realization that I too was a cat person! I take comfort in picturing her singing in Heaven's choir and gabbing it up with Karl and my mom. Praise God that in Jesus we have the hope of being reunited someday!
