Kathy was born February 12, 1931, in Dallas, Texas to John ''Jack'' Rothschild Sellers Spellacy and Lura Mary (DeShazo) Spellacy. Like so many of her generation, Kathy grew up poor during the depression and WWII. She often talked about growing up in a loving multi-generational home, and spoke affectionately of memories she had growing up in a fun-loving, God-fearing home, emphasizing the need to be thankful for what God provides.
Kathy graduated from Sunset High School in 1948, in Dallas. After attending business college, she worked as a secretary in Dallas for three years before enrolling at Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas. Her campus job while a student at Wayland was working in the college library, a job she loved. Completing two years studying Religious Education and Music, Kathy returned to Dallas to work as a church secretary before marrying the love of her life, Thomas Stanley ''Stan'' Brown in 1956. They had 67 years of laughing with each other through trials and triumphs. As Kathy would say, ''That's a good start'' referring to the number of years they were married.

A woman of faith throughout her life, Kathy was a gifted teacher of children. She taught Kindergarten at her church's private school, led many Sunday School classes, participated in GA's and other church activities while also serving in PTA, as a den mother for cub scouts, and as a troop co-leader for Bluebirds and Campfire Girls. She was a regular organizer of Vacation Bible School, primarily in Euless, Texas where she and Stan raised their family before retiring to Greenville. A mother of four children, Kathy was known as a loyal friend, a prayer warrior and a regular volunteer at local schools and the public library, where she also worked for many years as a librarian.

Part of her witness here on earth was that when she was diagnosed with lymph cancer at the age of 39, she asked everyone she knew to pray for her healing. God answered the prayers and she was miraculously healed of the disease, living cancer free for the rest of her life. Due to this experience, she recited Psalm 118:17 often as her favorite verse.

She enjoyed reading (especially presidential biographies and history), music (she played and taught piano), and spending time with her family. Known for her positive outlook and giving spirit, Kathy enjoyed attending Sunday School classes where she was an active member and, later in life, volunteered with AWANA clubs.

Kathy is survived by her daughter Becki Knight and her husband Glenn of Watauga, Texas; daughter Beverly Farnsworth and her husband Jay of Terre Haute, Indiana; son, Tom Brown and his wife Kristi of Greenville, Texas; and daughter Peggy Esters and her husband Dennis of Union Valley, Texas, thirteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Stan, her parents, her sister Winnie, and her great-grandson, Trevor.

The family would like to extend a special thanks for excellent kindness and care to the staff both of Sincere Care and Hospice Plus, from Greenville, Texas.

Kathy was a wonderful sister-in-law. When I was 5 years old, she and Stan drove to Newton, Mississippi and picked up our entire family (four of us at the time) to share part of their honeymoon with them in Vicksburg, Mississippi. It was a great trip I will never forget.
