Edna Carter

Edna McCloud Carter, 86, of Farmersville, Texas, passed away on June 18, 2024, in McKinney. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, June 22, 2024, at Merit Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Cline officiating. Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. until service time. Interment will be in Merit Cemetery. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Edna Carter was born to FH and Ibbie McCloud on November 21, 1937, in Merit, Texas. She was one of 13 children, a loud and joyful family. She picked cotton and she did many chores on the farm. All of these things created the hard working ethic and standard that she lived.
She married John Richard Carter on October 26, 1958, in Bennington, Oklahoma. She worked for Texas Instruments as data entry and ran the computer programming lab. She was a member of Merit Baptist Church. She was a faithful servant, dedicated mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She survived her husband's death, the death of both her daughter and son. She and her brother Lonnie survived all their siblings. The family are so appreciative of Lonnie's constant love and support for her. He and his wife, Jean remained constant in her life until the end.
Edna leaves behind a daughter, Pamela Hogan and her husband, Duane, daughter-in-law, Margie Kirby, two grandsons, Andrew Richard Hogan and his wife, Carmen Hogan, their children, David Andrew and Isabel Raquel. The second grandson, Lucas Duane Hogan and his wife, Amy Elizabeth Hogan and their two children, Levi Samuel and Joan Elizabeth Hogan.
Special thanks to my sister-in-law, Margie Kirby who took such good care of Edna and the church family and friends that visited her during her last days.
She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Teresa Mae Thomas, parents, son, Lex Leroy Kirby, 6 brothers and 6 sisters.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Hogan, Lucas Hogan, Duane Hogan, Lonnie Ray McCloud, Jr., H.C. Wasek, and Chris Taylor.
