Reba Nell Yarbrough

Reba Nell Yarbrough, age 93, of Cumby, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 23, 2024, at Briarcliff Health Care Center in Greenville, Texas.

Reba was born on March 17, 1931, in Yowell, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; Rufus McCombs and Alice Nabers McCombs. Brother; Merle McCombs. Sister-in-law: Kate McCombs. Husband, Robert ''Bob'' Yarbrough.

After graduating from Commerce High School, Reba began her career as a bookkeeper at Lone Star Gas in Dallas, Texas. Later, she returned to Yowell to care for her ailing mother. During this time, she met Bob Yarbrough on a blind date, and after several months of courtship, they married on June 24, 1950. They enjoyed 61 wonderful years together until Bob's passing in 2011.

Reba and Bob owned and operated a dairy farm for over 50 years. They took great pleasure in gardening, canning vegetables and jellies, attending dairy conferences, and taking road trips with their family to visit relatives.

Reba was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. She was an exceptional cook, delighting in preparing meals for her family and friends, especially during the holidays. Her hearty breakfasts and meals were prepared with love for all the boys and men who worked at the dairy over the years. Reba also supported local fundraising efforts with her baking skills, contributing cakes and pies to cheerleading bake sales, carnival cake walks, and other community events benefiting the youth.

A member of the Cumby Eastern Star Organization, Reba was active in the PTA and a strong supporter of the local school system. At the First Presbyterian Church in Cumby, she shared her faith as a Sunday School teacher, vacation Bible school leader, and in various committee roles.

Blessed with a sharp mind and excellent eyesight, Reba spent hours reading her Bible and devotional books. She took pride in her ability to remember names, important dates, and events. Conversations around the kitchen table with family and friends, over dessert and iced tea, were cherished moments.
Reba was a wonderful wife and mother, always offering support, wisdom, and love to her family and friends. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, joy, and strength.
